Subject: [Gmail-Users] the story of how google broke IMAP
so, it would appear that without a custom implementation that supports google's X-GM-LABELS IMAP extension, no client will function correctly while using IMAP folders.
according to: https://developers.google.com/gmail/imap_extensions#special-use_extension_of_the_list_command
the client must support the X-GM-LABELS extension, since there is no method to disable this 'feature' in the gmail interface.
i'd like some explanation from google as to when this issue will be rectified. currently, the only alternative is to switch to a proper IMAP provider, or use google apps sync / outlook EAS with outlook.com...
yes, this is yet another case of how google broke the internet.
